Sarah Rudledge's performance and video based practice investigates the experience of texture and touch within urban environments. In her current work she uses physical activities, such as running, to engage with the uneven ground, liveliness and friction of townscapes. She seeks out these tactile conversations as a way to bring new sensory knowledge of a place into the body.

This whole-body negotiation allows time to contemplate the therapeutic value of living in a textured world. It acts as an antidote to the smoothing out of the world's surfaces – through digital technology and urban planning – which has the potential to affect a flattening of our own internal landscapes.

Rudledge lives and works in Melbourne.
